In regard to rabbit showing, a leg is a type of award a rabbit can get if it wins a class. The actual leg is a certificate that is usually mailed to the exhibitor after the show. Rabbits can win one leg per show, and can win legs for class wins, BOB, BOSB, BOV, BOSV, BOG, BOSG, BIS, or RIS.
There are certain requirements for a rabbit to win a leg. It must be an official ARBA-sanctioned show, and the rabbit must be a recognized breed. There must be at least 5 rabbits entered in the class, and they must be entered under at least 3 exhibitors. If all of these requirements are met, and your rabbit wins the class, congratulations, you won a leg!
You do not need to be an ARBA member for your rabbits to win legs. Your rabbit does not need to be pedigreed, and in theory, doesn't even need to be purebred to be able to win a leg.
If your rabbit wins 3 or more legs, under certain circumstances it can become a Grand Champion. A Grand Champion is a title that basically helps prove that your rabbit is good quality. The rabbit must be at least 6 months of age, must be purebred and have a complete and accurate pedigree (with names, ear numbers, colors, and weights for all ancestors), and must be registered with ARBA. Even if your rabbit won 3 legs as a Junior, it is not eligible to be a Grand Champion until it has earned at least one leg when over 6 months old. The legs must also have been won under at least 2 separate judges.
If you register your rabbit as a Grand Champion, you can use the title GC before your rabbit's name. For example, your rabbit named ABC's Fluffy can now be called GC ABC's Fluffy.
