The A locus is a fairly simple one to understand. A rabbit can be either A_, a(t)_, or aa.
A_ is agouti. Agouti can be either AA, Aa(t), or Aa. It is the most dominant on the A locus. Varieties recognized in Holland Lops that are A_ at the A locus are:
~Widebands
~Agoutis
~Tricolors
~Steels
a(t) is tan pattern. Tan pattern can be either a(t)a(t), or a(t)a. Tan pattern is responsible for otter color. It is recessive to agouti but dominant to self. Varieties recognized in Holland Lops that are a(t)_ at the A locus are:
~Otters
a is self. Self can ONLY be aa. It is recessive to both A and a(t). All varieties in Holland Lops, apart from those listed above, are aa at the A locus.
